Nakornpayap International School is accredited by the Western Association of School and Colleges (WASC), recognized by the Association of Indian Universities for entrance qualifications and licensed by the Thai Ministry of Education.
WASC is a California-based non-profit organization that evaluates schools throughout the western U.S. and Asia. Accreditation is awarded after an intensive self-study process by the school itself, followed by auditing from a team of experienced educators and administrators.
Our WASC self-study visit was held on March 12-14, 2014. Mr. John Keegan Education Cosultant for WASC in California was the chair of the committee. He was joined by Mrs. Heather Naro (ES Principal, International School Eastern Seaboard, Chonburi, Thailand) for the two-day visit. The visiting committee met with representatives of the parent community, teachers, Thai staff, administrators and students during their visit.
We learned at the end of the summer in July that the Board of Commissioner in California has granted NIS a two-year term, at which point a 2-man team will be sent for two days to verify progress on our approved school-wide action plan. Likewise, the Thai Ministry of Education has approved our Thai program. Both are accredited through June, 2016.
At this time, we would like to highlight just how hard every staff member and contributing parent worked this past academic year. It has truly paid off. The self-study was incredibly well-received and the entire staff and community were commended for their efforts related to progress:
“ The entire teaching staff for assuming the leadership role in undertaking a WASC self-study, successfully completing it in less than 10 months, a process that normally takes a school 2 years to accomplish, without any release time or financial compensation.
The entire NIS community for their openness and willingness to share their concerns for the betterment of the school. ”
We will follow the recommendations of the visiting committee as we enact our school’s continued development plan and continue to welcome the incredible help and support of our families and friends in the community.
A formal license from the Thai Ministry of Education means that the school’s ownership, property, teachers and administrators are all within guidelines that ensure the proper functioning and future stability of the institution.
