School Counselor

I am the school counselor at Nakorn Payap International School. My name is Naw Thein Paw Awar. People call me Ms. Naw at school. I completed a four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and Psychology and a Master of Science in Counseling & Psychology. Currently, I am working toward my second Master degree in Applied Psychology.

Before joining NIS, I worked at Wells International School – Thong Lor Campus as a school counselor and learning support coordinator. Prior to that, I worked at the Village Education Center as the Learning Support Personnel assisting students to overcome different types of learning difficulties. I realize that when students are helped on a one-on-one basis, they improve significantly. This is because every child is unique.

My aim as the counselor at Nakorn Payap International School is to identify every student’s learning needs and provide creative and supportive intervention that would help him/her to excel. Along with ensuring academic success, I will also focus on addressing students’ social-emotional needs as they constitute one of the most important determinants of effective learning. I also provide college counseling services to facilitate college planning process and to help students and parents identify and work towards achieving post-secondary goals.

Korean Counselor

A key aspect of my role as Korean Counselor is to ensure better and smoother communication between the school and the sizable Korean community. Korean parents may now be informed of events in the school and can be updated on issues concerning their children accurately. I hope that this will encourage Korean parents to be more involved with the school, as the language barrier has now been reduced. 한국인 카운슬러로서 저의 주된 업무는 나콘파얍 학교와 한국인 커뮤니티의 소통을 수월하게 하는것입니다. 학교에서 벌어지고 있는 행사, 학부모면담, 학생과 관련된 일 등 언어 장벽 때문에 의사소통이 불편하셨던 점을 제가 보완 해드리려 노력하겠습니다. 앞으로 부모님들께서 더더욱 학교에 관심과 애정을 가져주시면 감사하겠습니다.
