Families can apply to NIS at any time of the year.
Academic Year Summer School
Semester 2 ends on Thursday 3rd June, 2010 21st June - 23rd July, 2010
Semester 1 begins on Monday 9th August, 2010 and ends on Friday 17th December, 2010
Semester 1 begins on Monday 10th January, 2011 and ends on Thursday 2nd June, 2011
13th June - 15th July, 2011
Application Process
1. Campus Visit : Visit our beautiful campus at any time which suits you. It is always worthwhile to make an appointment as Ms. Melanie, our Admissions Counselor prefers to take time to talk you through the relatively straightforward admissions process and also to show you around our facilites. 2. Application : A completed application form, health document, application fee and all supporting documents must be received prior to a testing date being made. Students will be refused an admissions test until all documents are received.
3. Transcripts : Academic records in English or Thai of the applying student must be received prior to testing. Preferably a minimum of two years prior.
4. Required Documents : The following documents must be received prior to testing and interview.
- A completed and signed NIS Application Form
- Payment of the non refundable 2,000 Baht Application Fee
- Current and previous school records of student (minimum 2 years)
- Four (4) recent passport sized photographs
- A fully completed NIS Health Record Form complete with a copy of the students immunization record.
- A photocopy of the applicants birth certificate
- A photocopy of the applicants and parents passport complete with relevant visas
- For applicants living with a Guardian: Guardian passport with relevant visas
- For Thai Students: House Registration and I.D Card of parents
5. Interview : When all required documents and transcripts have been received, the admissions counselor will schedule an appointment for an interview with the student and parents.
6. Admissions Testing : Tests are tailored to the age and grade of the applicant. All students are required to take the admission test. An ELS or EAP test may also be required to determine the need for English support.
7. Admissions Committee : The results of the interview and testing will be presented to the Admissions Committee. Acceptance or refusal of the student will be decided at this meeting. Grade placements will also be discussed and decided upon.
8. Registration : Students who are accepted at NIS must pay the Registration Fee of 60,000 Baht (non-refundable) to guarantee their place in NIS. Once accepted into school the Registration must be paid within 10 working days to enable a place to be held.
9. Waiting List : When space is limited, students who have passed the admission test may be placed on a waiting list. Parents will be informed of acceptance no later than the first week of the semester.
10. SCHOOL FEES FOR THE SEMESTER MUST BE PAID IN FULL PRIOR TO THE STUDENT COMMENCING SCHOOL.
GENERAL INFORMATION
1. Students applying for Grade 12 will be considered in certain circumstances.
2. Students will not be admitted beyond two weeks into either semester.
3. Official transcripts in English or Thai are acceptable. Transcripts in other languages must be translated into English and certified that the translation is accurate.
4. Students will not be admitted unless they have a parent or guardian responsible for them living in Chiang Mai. Once admitted we will continue to monitor that students are in fact living with a responsible adult.
5. The school does not offer special educational services. Unfortunately, we cannot consider special needs students.
6. NIS is not equipped for handicapped students; therefore, we cannot consider students requiring special facilities.
7. If a student's placement test indicates that he/she should attend ELS (English Language Support) or EAP (English for Academic Purposes), then this becomes a requirement for enrollment. In doing so NIS ensures that we maintain and improve the level of English in the school. Parents/Guardians are very welcome to view the test result and discuss any questions or concerns.
8. Re-enrolling students who wish to return to NIS must be scheduled for an interview with the Principal and may be asked to take a placement test.There is a Registration Fee for the re-enrolling student of 10,000 Baht.
9. Students re-enrolling within 12 months will not be charged a Registration Fee.
10. Students enrolling for less than 12 months will be charged a Registration Fee of 20,000 Baht.
TUITION POLICY
1. Payment Schedule : The full semester tuition and fees must be paid either in total prior to the student commencing school or payment arrangements must be in place with the Finance Office.
2. Payment Options : Two payment options are offered :
- Complete school year payment prior to the beginning of the first semester
- 50% due by 1st August (1st semester) and 50% due by 1st January (2nd semester)
3. Acceptable forms of payments : Payments may be made in cash, cashier's check, direct cash deposit, personal check or by cradit card. Please be aware that NIS is not responsible for banking fees. These must be settled by the parent.
4. Textbook Deposit : A refundable book deposit of 10,000 Baht is charged to each new student. Textbooks are provided to students at no additional charge and must be returned in reasonable condition at the end of each semester.
5. Damage Deposit : A refundable damage deposit of 20,000 Baht is charged to each new student to cover any potential loss or damage to school property, facilities, or other school related items.
6. Early Withdrawal : Tuition and fee refunds will be granted in accordance with the following schedule:
- Up to the 10th day of the semester 50%
- From the 11th day to the 20th day of the semester 25%
- After the 21st day 0% will be refunded
- The Registration Fee is a non-refundable amount
7. Late Payment : Overdue accounts are billed at 1.5% per month.
8. Late Enrollment : There is no reduction in tuition fees for late enrollment.
9. *Early Childhood Center : Early Learners, Pre-School and Kindergarten classes have no language support.The spoken language is English; therefore, we ask that students and parents applying to ECC have a basic knowledge of English.
10. **Elementary Language Support : Students may receive 1-2 hours per day of English language support determined by initial and periodic assessments. This support program is delivered by specialist teachers through both in-class support and pull-out for small group instruction. Students who require more than 2 hours per day of English language support do not meet entrance requirements.
11. Secondary School EAP : Secondary students in Grades 7 - 10 may be placed in an intensive EAP program if determined necessary by a placement test. This full day program focuses on the learning of academic English.
12. Family Discount : 5,000 Baht discount from the tuition fee per student for each additional child enrolled.
13. Tuition Benefits : Tuition fees are inclusive of a buffet lunch, accident insurance and basic dental insurance.
14. Additional Expenses : PE kit, field trips, special events, national testing and transportation fees.
15. Transportation Fee (Optional) : 3,000 Baht per month round trip pick up and drop off, door to door service in the NIS school buses. Please note - NIS reserves the right to change the fee structure. For further help and information, please contact:
