Elementary School
The Elementary School is comprised of students, teachers, administrators and staff who value the diversity of the student body. We are truly diverse in nationality, culture, religion, and ability. We believe that all students are talented in some way. We strive to support our students academically, socially, and emotionally through an education that keeps children interested, challenged and happy. This happens both in the classroom and outside the classroom with special days, festivals, field trips, performances, assemblies and inter-school sport competitions.
Elementary School Curriculum
Learning in elementary School (Grades 1-6) naturally grows in detail, complexity and scope as a student progresses from one grade to the next, building on knowledge learned in each previous grade level. Subject areas covered include:

For example, goals in Grade 1 for reading and language begin with basic phonics, while those in Grade 6 require a knowledge of complex grammar, syntax and advanced spelling, as well as the ability to understand fairly advanced literature. Other subjects follow a similar pattern of advancement, culminating with students who are well-prepared to enter and succeed in Middle School.
The curriculum is comprised of comprehensive and specific expected learning outcomes and the steps by which those are achieved. (A full printed copy of the Primary School Curriculum is available at NIS for those interested in complete details.)
