Child Safety Letter
October 6, 2009
Dear Parents,
I have just been told about the following article that appeared in the Chiang Mai Community Classifieds on October 2.
"Community warning: We were notified of a young farang child on a bike in a muubahn being approached by a Thai couple in a silver car,
with other Thai men in the back seat. The group tried to get the child to get into the car, and the child was able to run to a neighborhood store.
This is the only incident we have heard reported, but we did want to encourage parents to make sure that their children knew what to do if approached by strangers."
The incident apparently happened to an 8 year old girl being home schooled who was out in her Moo Ban somewhere near GIS during a school day.
Fortunately the child knew what to do, and is fine.
However, it does serve as a reminder of the importance to impress on the children of our community not to talk to strangers, and never to get into a car.
We will discuss this with the students in class, and I highly recommend that you re-enforce this at home.
Sincerely,
John Allen, Jr.
Principal
