Dear Parents
 
Welcome back to a new school year. I'd just like to inform you of a few details concerning the P.E program for both during school and after school hours.
This year we hope to have more activities to choose from as well as more teams and sporting events to join in with. As with other years the success of the P.E program depends on Parental support.
This does not only mean that parents should come and support their children in any sport they do it also means you should encourage your children to join in sports and activities as a way of staying fit and healthy.
With this letter I'll be sending out a letter that will list all the clubs/groups/activities that can be taken part in around Chiang Mai, including Football, Badminton, Swimming, Dancing and many other activities.
The P.E class is just a start in staying fit and healthy, doing activities outside of school can help your child/children have fun, stay fit, meet new people and enable them to concentrate more in class.
 
I have also enclosed some sheets that show all the sports activities that are available for the first half of semester 1. These include clubs/activities/teams for your child/children to participate in.
As I said earlier we'd like you to encourage your children to part in as many activities as possible.
Also there is a page that tells you all the activities that are happening within CMAC (Chiang Mai Athletic Conference),
which is a sporting group that includes all the international schools in Chiang Mai and two international schools in Yangon, Myanmar.
 
Please encourage your child/children to join in with our after school sports activities/ teams as it will help NIS perform better and better in all the tournaments and competitions that are held throughout the year.
Also we encourage all students to join in with the sports and activities, regardless of whether they have played before or not.
 
If you are interested in helping out with coaching or offering any sort of sporting club/activity to our students,
please don't hesitate to come and speak to me as we are always looking for extra adults to help out with the sports program.
 
Within the first week your child/children will be given their timetable, can you please make sure that they bring the correct uniform (P.E shirt and shorts for the gym class,
swimming suit and goggles for swimming class) to class as without it they won't be allowed to take part in P.E. Also take note that for all Elementary students they will be put into groups next week.
There groups will be posted in their classrooms and the students will therefore know what days they have Gym class and what days they have swim class.
