Information on Sports&Activities that Students can join in and around Chiang Mai

Information on Sports and Activities that Students can join in and around Chiang Mai

          I (Mr. Lee) feel that it's very important for all students to lead a healthy and full lifestyle.
During the P.E class and within the school teams we try to give NIS students as much exposure to as many different sports and activities as possible,
but for students who want to join sports clubs outside of school what are their options?

           I have compiled an information sheet that shows sports clubs, activities and places where sports can be enjoyed throughout the Chiang Mai area.
Hopefully this information will inspire you to send your children to take part in sports/activities outside of school as well as in school.

           Firstly I will list places where students can go to play sports and the clubs that can be joined. I have included as many telephone numbers/days/times as possible.

700 Year Stadium, Canal Road (Around 2km before Huay Tung Tao lake), Tel. 053-112299
            The 700 Year stadium is probably the biggest sports complex in Chiang Mai, it has a range of sports activities that can be participated  during the evenings and at the weekend.

Clubs/Training Include:
*         Football:700 Year stadium Football Academy, Wed-Sun 4.30-7pm, ages 6-16 years old.
           One of the best places to train for football around Chiang Mai, very friendly and
           accessible.
*         Tennis: Mondays - Sundays, 7.00 am. - 9.00 p.m., Ages 5+ years old.

            As well as these sports clubs you can go along to the 700 year stadium and very a very reasonable cost enjoy the facilities including Olympic Swimming Pool, Badminton courts (Indoor and Outdoor), Gymnasium, Tennis courts and golf putting and pitching areas. Also there is a yearly membership for the 700 year stadium (A small fee) that will make all the facilities half price for any member.
             Also every night there are games of basketball and futsal going on that can be joined in with by anybody.

Sanam Gila Tessaban (Old Chiang Mai Municipal Stadium, close to Chang Puak Bus station), Tel. 053-219181

             Sanam Gila Tessabann is the old Chiang Mai stadium (Before it changed to the 700 year stadium) and has many facilities devoted to sport and also includes the Chiang Mai Physical Education college. The range of sports and clubs available there are massive so I have listed just some of then that students can take part in.
