Academic Overview

NIS offers an American curriculum with an international perspective. This curriculum places equal emphasis on academic and personal development. Our courses are primarily college preparatory, with AP support for grade 11 and 12, focusing on the educational needs of the international student to prepare them for university-level education anywhere in the world. The high school diploma is awarded to students upon the completion of all requirements for graduation.

Early Childhood Center

The Early Childhood Center at NIS is a full-day program for children age 3 to 5 years old.  This program encompasses the Early Learners (3 year-olds), Preschool (4 year-olds) and Kindergarten (5 year-olds).    The school day runs from 8:00 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. At this age the emphasis is on learning through play using the child's natural creativity to help them grow socially and intellectually.

Elementary School (Grade 1- 6)

Our Elementary School Program follows a United States-style curriculum.  Each grade studies four core areas:  Math, Science, English and Social Studies.  We follow a modified Social Studies curriculum to ensure relevance for our culturally diverse student body.

P.E., Music, Art, Thai, Computer basics, and regular library visits are also incorporated into the program.  Thai language and culture classes are divided based on ability.

ELS (English  Language Support) instruction is offered to those students who need it.  Language support requirements are determined through initial assessments and periodic evaluations.

Middle School and High School (Grade 7 - 12)

NIS has a college preparatory focus in the Secondary School Program.  Our goal is to create a challenging curriculum designed to help students gain entrance into universities and colleges around the world.  The school follows a United States curriculum.  Middle School receive introductory classes in the core areas, while high school students explore more advanced areas of study such as Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, Psychology and pre-Calculus. The Social Science curriculum has been modified slightly to shift from a United States focus to a more international focus.  Elective classes include PE, Art, Music, Computer Science, Foreign Language and Journalism.
