Parent Advisory Council

The PTG - Parent Teacher Group was started a number of years ago at NIS. At that time a steady group of core members kept the momentum going. However, in recent years, the enthusiasm and attendance dropped.

Now in 2011 we have a new group of parents in school who are vibrant, enthusiastic and ready to get involved. Whether you have a couple of hours or a couple of afternoons free, please help the PAC to grow and flourish.

We have a parent and a teacher representative on the NIS School Board enabling parents to be directly involved with what happens at NIS.
The following is a small part of what we are and what we try to do:

To provide a support system for parents
To meet monthly as an organized group
To involve teachers by inviting them to speak at meetings
To have a section of the school website available to parents with
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
To have a visa help section, attempting to help new and existing parents with visa questions
To support the environmental side of NIS
To enable parents to have a voice in school
To enable parents to become more involved with the clubs and sports
To provide a Parent/Student Directory
To comfortably involve all parents in school, whatever their spoken language
To initiate fund raising ideas

Volunteer Opportunities

All parents and grandparents love to be involved with their child's education. They care about what their son or daughter is doing during the school day; they are interested in where their child is going on a school field trip. Mums love to color and bake with their daughter. Dad's love to play football, swim or shoot some baskets with their son.
We would love to welcome Mums and Dads to join in with the school day. If you can help in some big or small way, come and join in. Language is not a barrier; we already have many Thai and Korean parents who join our monthly meetings.

Starting a club of your own after school; language, sport or fun
